"A hero of our time"
"A hero of our time" is a cult novel of Lermontov. It is a bright example of philosophic novel and of all the creativity of Lermontov. This is where revealed all the ideas, likes and dislikes the author had about this world, about this life and about relations between people. This is a story that starts at The Caucasus, the beloved Caucasus for Lermontov.
It was common for Lermontov to be affected by those people and phenomena that was recognized as abnormal by other people. And "A hero of out times" is a novel about man who was one of peculiar character and who was recognized as scoundrel by most people but who was one of the most delicate and true foundations indeed.
There are three main philosophic ideas revealed in this novel. The first idea is about good and evil that blended in one phenomenon in a character of one man, and that man is a main character of the novel. There is also the idea of hero appeared face to face with the reality deprived of any foundations. There is also a conflict between desires and destiny.
The main character was the one who was blamed in all the deadly sins, and he wasn't a saint one, though he was a man who was brave enough to confess all the mistakes he maid. Lermontov implemented in the main character all the drawbacks of people of his days. Though, he left him a way to become better and that way was supposed to be found on one's own.
